ABOUT

I am a healthcare provider, teacher, photographer and occasional game master. I live in Tucson, Arizona with my wife, son, and dog.

From 2009 to 2014 I taught English in China, Taiwan, and Vietnam to students of all ages. During those years I developed a curriculum called ‘d20 English’ - a language focused role-playing game designed to encourage functional English skills and fluency.

From 1999 to 2009 I was employed as a paramedic with Putnam County EMS. During that time I photographed the day-to-day life of paramedics and firefighters as they served the local community. The pictures are collected in Rescuing Putnam. An edited collection of actual dispatches from my last year in Rescue are located in Dispatches.

Over the years I have made many projects. Some solo and some with my wife, Hannah Pierce-Carlson. Many of these are available on this site and at Myopicus.
